I’ll send clear instructions explaining what I need to see. This might include your existing spreadsheet, access to Xero or examples of how you currently record your sales and expenses
II BUILD YOUR FINANCE FOUNDATIONS
I’ll create or reorganise the agreed core system and prepare a practical routine shaped around the way your business operates.
RECEIVE YOUR NEW SETUP
You’ll receive your completed setup and written instructions within ten working days of providing all the information and access required.
You can then submit one round of follow-up questions within 14 days.
WHAT FINANCE FOUNDATIONS DOESN’T INCLUDE
Finance Foundations provides a standard core setup for one business. It does not include:
• Ongoing monthly bookkeeping
• Entering a large backlog of historical transactions
• Correcting extensive historical bookkeeping errors
• Preparing or filing VAT or tax returns
• Statutory accounts or individual tax advice
• Payroll setup or processing
• Complex stock or inventory systems
• Bespoke software development
• Migration from every accounting platform
• Ongoing maintenance after the follow-up period
If your existing records require significant cleanup, historical work or a more complex setup, I’ll explain what is needed and agree any additional cost before completing chargeable work.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I NEED TO USE XERO?
Not necessarily. Some smaller businesses can be managed effectively using a well-designed spreadsheet. I’ll consider the needs of your business and recommend the most suitable option.
WHO PAYS FOR THE XERO SUBSCRIPTION?
If Xero is the appropriate choice, the account and subscription will belong to you. This ensures that you remain in control of your business information.
CAN YOU WORK WITH QUICKBOOKS OR FREEAGENT?
Finance Foundations is designed around Xero or spreadsheets. I don’t currently provide setup services for QuickBooks or FreeAgent.
WILL YOU ENTER ALL OF MY OLD TRANSACTIONS?
No. Entering or correcting a substantial amount of historical bookkeeping is not included. If previous records need attention before the new setup can be used properly, I’ll explain your options.
DOES THIS INCLUDE MONTHLY BOOKKEEPING?
No. Finance Foundations establishes the system and routine for you to use. If you would like ongoing bookkeeping with regular financial insight, Business Finance Partner is the more suitable service.
CAN YOU CONNECT MY BANK OR SELLING PLATFORM?
Where a suitable standard connection is available, I can help you arrange the agreed setup. Some platforms require additional software, subscriptions or specialist configuration, which I’ll explain before any extra cost is incurred.
WILL YOU FILE MY VAT OR TAX RETURNS?
No. Finance Foundations helps you keep clearer, more organised records, but it does not include filing returns or providing individual tax advice.
DO I HAVE TO ATTEND A CALL?
No. The entire service is delivered asynchronously through written information, email, screen recordings and voice notes where helpful.
CAN I ASK QUESTIONS AFTERWARDS?
Yes. One round of follow-up questions relating to your setup is included if submitted within 14 days.ASKED QUESTIONS

No. The review can cover an existing Xero setup or the spreadsheets and processes you currently use. If moving to Xero would benefit your business, I may recommend it as part of your next steps.

No. This service is designed for independent businesses, including sole traders and businesses that are not VAT registered.
WILL YOU CORRECT MY BOOKKEEPING?
I’ll identify issues and recommend what should change, but extensive corrections or historical cleanup are not included in the review. Any additional work will be discussed and quoted separately.
HOW WILL I RECEIVE MY REVIEW?
